History of “La Cave du Vénitien”
The Vénitien
The story of our business began in 1960, with the opening of the bar «Le vénitien» by Ferruccio Celot and Denise Liegeois, in the heart of La Roche-en-Ardenne. They gave that name in reference to the hometown of the owner. Until 1982, they will gain loyalty of the customers. In May that same year, their daughter Bernadette Celot and her husband Claude Christophe took over the tavern.
The shop
1994 will be the year of the opening of a small local shop, adjacent to “Le Vénitien”, that they will name «La Cave du Vénitien», in reference to the name of their tavern, with already a pleasant selection of beers.
The Féodale
In 2004, Claude needed a new challenge and decided to create and design his own lager: «La Féodale de la Roche». Its little sister, a brown beer, will see the light the next year.
In 2010, following an exhibition’s opening at La Roche’s feudal castle, he meets Dany, a famous Belgian cartoonist. They then decided to work together and designed the new beer labels inspired by the legend of the castle.

La Cave du Vénitien
Gradually the small shop grows up until 2007 where Claude and Bernadette decide to put an end to their tavern and to increase the size of «La Cave du Vénitien»: both commerces then become one!
